Scotland Branch Manifesto

Protection of Universal Benefits
It is essential to retain and increase the Winter Fuel Allowance to ensure that the most vulnerable are not adversely effected by the harsh Scottish weather, thus ending Fuel Poverty.
Protect and Retain the Triple Lock and the Barnett Formula
Improve the accessibility to public transport for the elderly and disabled
A “Living State Pension” for all aged 68 and over
This is due to the removal of the entitlement to the free TV Licence for the over 75s.
Discounted Dental Care for those on State Pension
This would encourage these groups to attend the dentist and maintain their oral health and discounts would ensure that low income groups are more able to afford such high cost items.
Personal Independence Payment and Disability Living Allowance to be controlled by Holyrood Parliament increasing every year by inflation
Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI)
CSPA Scotland Branch supports this campaign and would look to the Scottish Government to make good the shortfalls suffered by those women who were forced to wait until much later ages for their State Pension, without being allowed the time to make adequate alternative financial arrangements. We are especially concerned about women who are experiencing extreme hardship as a result.
Safe Social Housing to suit the needs of the ageing population in line with the ‘Life—time Homes Standard’ and Social Care with Legislation to Combat Loneliness and Isolation among the Elderly and Disabled
Protection of Universal Benefits
It is essential to retain and increase the Winter Fuel Allowance to ensure that the most vulnerable are not adversely effected by the harsh Scottish weather, thus ending Fuel Poverty.
Full implementation of the United Nations Convention on the rights of Disabled People (UNCRDP), which has been agreed by the UK Government
Provision should be made in the Equalities Act 2010 for the prevention of ‘Age Discrimination’
Digital Exclusion / Inclusion
Freedom of choice to opt in or opt out. No discrimination of those not willing or able to use digital means (eg, higher costs for services). It should also be accessible and affordable for all who choose to opt in.
Overturn the May 2019 ruling regarding Pension Credit and Housing Benefit
Easy access to cash should remain an option for all
Create a Moratorium on ‘Shared Space’ Schemes, which has already been petitioned through Holyrood, with the reversal of existing schemes, for the safety and wellbeing of the elderly, disabled and all people in Society
